The short answer: exchanges pay a commission on the trading fees generated by traders who arrive through a partner. A rebate service is that partner. Instead of keeping the whole commission, it passes a fixed share of it back to the trader — 40% on BingX, for example. Your trading fee does not change; what changes is where part of it ends up.
Where the money actually comes from
Every exchange charges a trading fee, and every exchange spends money to attract traders. Rather than spending all of it on advertising, exchanges run partner programmes: bring in traders, and receive a percentage of the fees those traders generate.
That commission is paid out of fees the exchange already collects. It is not an extra charge added to your account, and it is not the exchange giving away money it never had. A rebate service simply chooses to keep a smaller cut and return the rest, competing on how much it gives back rather than on how loudly it advertises.
This is why a rebate rate can be published openly. It is a split of a known commission, not a promotion that has to expire.
The flow, step by step
- You register through the partner link (or transfer an existing account, where the exchange allows it). This is what attributes your account to the partner.
- You trade as normal. Nothing about your fee schedule, VIP level or execution changes.
- The exchange calculates the fees your trading generated in a given period.
- A commission is attributed to the partner based on those eligible fees.
- The agreed share is credited back to you — automatically for most exchanges, on the cycle listed in the table below.
The attribution step is the one that decides everything. If an account was never linked to the partner, there is no commission to share, and no rebate can be paid retroactively. Everything else is arithmetic.
Rates and payout mechanism
| Exchange | Cashback rate | How it is paid |
|---|---|---|
| BingX | 40% | Automatic, daily |
| MEXC | 50% | 20% automatic + 30% daily from RebatePrime |
| Bitunix | 50% | Automatic, daily |
| OKX | 20% | Automatic, hourly |
Rates are the current listed figures and are subject to each exchange’s own programme terms. MEXC is the one to read carefully: 20% is credited automatically by MEXC, while 30% is sent daily by RebatePrime to your Spot Wallet. Neither part requires a claim.

Does it change what you pay to trade?
No. The fee your exchange charges is set by the exchange, based on your VIP tier, the contract type and whether you are the maker or the taker. A rebate service does not sit between you and the order book and cannot alter any of that.
What it changes is the effective cost after the rebate lands. If you pay $100 in fees over a month and 40% comes back, your net cost for that month is lower — but the fee you paid at execution time was identical either way.
What decides how much you get
The single biggest misconception is that cashback rewards large capital. It does not. Cashback is calculated from fees, and fees come from turnover, not from your balance.
A trader with a modest account who opens and closes positions frequently can generate more fees in a month — and therefore more cashback — than someone with a much larger balance who trades once a week. Frequency and volume drive the number; account size only matters insofar as it affects position sizing.
- The account is properly attributed to the partner — this is the step that is most often missed.
- You are looking at the right cycle. Daily-paid rebates will not appear seconds after a trade.
- For MEXC, separate the 20% automatic MEXC credit from the 30% daily RebatePrime top-up.
- The fees you are counting are eligible fees under the exchange’s current programme terms.
Common questions
Is cashback a discount on my trading fee?
No. Your trading fee is charged in full at execution, exactly as it would be without a rebate. The cashback is a separate credit, paid afterwards out of the commission the exchange pays the partner.
Does using a rebate service cost me anything?
No. The rebate service is paid by the exchange out of commission on fees you have already generated. There is no subscription and nothing is deducted from your account.
Can I get cashback on trades I made before joining?
No. A commission only exists for trading done while the account is attributed to the partner, so past fees cannot be rebated retroactively.
Why is MEXC described as 20% automatic plus 30% from RebatePrime?
Because the payout comes from two sources. MEXC credits the automatic portion on its normal cycle; RebatePrime sends the remaining portion daily to the Spot Wallet. Neither part requires a claim.
Does cashback guarantee I make a profit?
No. It reduces the cost of trading, which is a different thing from making trading profitable. Trading digital assets carries a high risk of loss regardless of any rebate.
